Boys: If you had a Marlin .44 Mag lever gun, what weight bullet would be most accurate at 100 yds.?  200 gr. or 240 gr. Huh Anybody ever tried something lighter than 200 grs. in the .44?  How does the .44 Mag stack up against the .357 Mag at 100 yds.? Last time I shot pistol caliber rifles was in the early 80s.   Jackson

I use a .45 cal.  200 grn. bullet for all my shooting...includin g the 100 yd. pistol cal. lever match.

Have read that the Marlin 44mag with "MicroGroove" rifling does not do well with lead bullets

I have two of the Marlins, one micro groove and one CB, never noticed a bit of difference. I've used 200 grain bullets until recently........ using 180's now. Not much difference there either.  I increase the powder in the ones we are going to shoot longer than a main match stage.
