August  ……  A Significant Month & Shoot  .. More Info About The Lead Mine Annual Shoot Sept 23rd

DON’T FORGET … LEAD MINE VALLEY SHOOT OUT Sept  23, 2017

August was a really significant month.  How so? Well, we had a complete solar eclipse.  Last Kiss returned to shoot.  And Too Tall won 3 of the 4 Buffalo Shoot events. Pleasant won the other.

Posse No. 2 - Ready to Shoot. L-R Front: Marshal Too Tall, Shenandoah Will, Limp Along Charlie, Long Wolf, Tin Pot. ... Back L-R: T-Bone Angus, Horseshoe John, Cherokee Slim, Saddle Burr Jack, News Carver, Tio Don, Steely I. Justice, Keystone, Lightning McCoy, El Carrera

Posse No. 2 – Ready to Shoot. L-R Front: Marshal Too Tall, Shenandoah Will, Limp Along Charlie, Long Wolf, Tin Pot. … Back L-R: T-Bone Angus, Horseshoe John, Cherokee Slim, Saddle Burr Jack, News Carver, Tio Don, Steely I. Justice, Keystone, Lightning McCoy, El Carrera

60 shooters ventured out to participate in the match.  When the shootin’ was done, Cumberland Drifter was the TOP GUN, and Anita Margarita was the Top Lady Shooter. The Top 10 Shooters were (1) Cumberland Drifter (2) Hurricane Charly (3) Jackalope (4) Johnny Morris (5) Marshal W.D. (6) Widowmaker (7) Clancy O’Connal (8) Randy Saint Eagle (9) Pleasant and (10) Ocoee Red.

19 shooters shot with no misses, 32% of shooters who finished.  32 shot with 1 or fewer misses, 54% of shooters who finished.

Anything else?  Yep.  In the competition between Too Tall and Ocoee Red for overall positioning, Ocoee Red won. Of course Too Tall would probably say, “There’s always next month. He was lucky!”  …  Ocoee Red would just smile.

Flossie May, Former Cowgirl Shooter, Passes On

Flossie May ... a.k.a. Pam Huddleston

On August 7, 2017, death claimed Flossie May (a.k.a. Pam Huddleston).  Probably most current Ocoee Rangers will wonder, “Who was Flossie May?”  The answer is, Flossie was the 1st Lady to shoot an Ocoee Rangers Match, and that was the very 1st Ocoee Rangers Match. Before that, Flossie frequently shot with us when we were the Tennessee Mountain Marauders. In that very 1st Ocoee Rangers shoot, Flossie was 1 of 51 shooters.  Since that 1st shoot, subtracting those who have passed on and those who have just given up Cowboy Shooting, there are only 12 of us left.

Flossie started shooting with the Knoxville cowboys, back when they were the Smokey Mountain Shootists and shot down west of Knoxville, a bit off I-75 / I-40.  But she journeyed south with lots of other folks and became 1 of us. Flossie moved away years ago and was no longer able to shoot with us. That was our loss.

So long Flossie.  You were a good cowgirl.  …  Notice the grin she’s trying to control?
