What Has 20 Eyes And Makes A Lot Of Noise?
Nope, it’s not a cicada, or jar fly as it’s called in East TN. Here’s a hint: we had 10 cowgirl shooters at the August Shoot. OK, Too Tall: that’s 10 cowgirls X 2 eyes each. Get it? The picture below shows the cowgirls of Posse No. 3, Tombstone’s posse. Of course they don’t really like him all that well. Deadman threatened to shoot’em if they didn’t stand close for the picture, but that didn’t faze’em, no better than he shoots. Last Kiss had to make the same threat before it worked. In total, we had 72 shooters out on the range shooting steel varmints.
S.A. Pondwater was the Top Gun for August, and Last Kiss was the Top Cowgirl Shooter, of course she shot in the Gunfighter category, not as a Lady Gunfighter. Marshal Too Tall came in 2nd in the main match and won the .22 Caliber and Long Range Single Shot Rifle competitions in the pre match Buffalo Shoot. Also in the Buffalo Shoot, Sun-dance McNeyman won the Long Range Pistol competition and Cody placed 1st the Lever Action Rifle shoot.
The Top 10 Shooters were (1) S.A. Pondwater (2) Marshal Too Tall (3) Unpleasant (4) Pleasant (5) Tabasco JOT (6) Ocoee Red (7) Festus D. Deputy (8) Widowmaker (9) Double Eagle and (10) T-Bone Angus. 4 shooters shot Clean Matches: Pleasant, Limp Along Charlie, Tennessee Hawk and Deadman.

Fast Harley Shoots The Last Target For Tombstone In The Team Shoot Stage, As Ziggy The Kid Looks On.
On 1 stage, shooters had to address the targets, and when their last shotgun target fell, their partner for the stage had to draw a six-gun (5 gun / 5 shots just don’t sound right) and shoot the last target 5 times …. really fast ….. or as fast as possible without missing. In the picture at the left, Tombstone is laying down his shotgun as Fast Harley is finishing the stage. More than 1 cowboy was overheard saying something like this to someone else: “The instructions say you have to have a friend shoot with you on this stage. I guess you’ll just have to take the last 5 shots as misses.” … But that didn’t really happen. Some shooters discovered they had more friends than they thought they had. Of course these folks were usually somebody who was a good pistol shot.
A Big Thank You is in order for Sheriff Donald. He made and donated a bunch of little black cartridge bags to be awarded to people who made a substantial contribution to our Christmas Event Fund. Most of them went real fast.
