2010 STARTS WITH A BANG! 89 SHOOTERS PARTICIPATE IN JANUARY MATCH

The New Year started with record attendance for an Ocoee Rangers match: 89 shooters. After a few weeks of nasty weekend weather, our Saturday was fantabulous. That’s a bit more than fantastic and a gnat’s rump less than fabulous. How would one know? Well, just look at the smiles below. Tin Pot doesn’t usually smile in photos, but just look at him.

Smiling Cowboys L-R: Tin Pot, Sundance McNeyman & Sledge

We had several visitors, all of whom are very welcome to come back and shoot with us any time. Slick’s Sharp Shooter had a big day: she shot a match with no misses and placed 1st in Junior Cowgirl competition. And Yazoo City Gal added sparkle to the occasion: she was wearing a snazzy new red hat. Not to be outdone by pretty faces, the gals not Tombstone, Badlands Beck shot a “No Misses” match shooting Outlaw.  That, cowboys & cowgirls, is a 1st at an Ocoee Rangers match. For folks who don’t know, Outlaw shooters shoot their shotguns and pistols from the hip, point shooting. Remember the pistol targets on stage 1, 2 on the same pole? Well, Badlands Beck and Loose Cinch both hit all those point shooting from the hip. How about that?

The Buffalo Shooters were out in force.  After the smoke cleared away, Jackson Longstreet had won the Long Range Pistol shoot, and after a 3 way tie, he won the Long Range Lever Action Rifle competition. Marshal Too Tall won the Long Range Single Shot Rifle and the .22 Caliber competitions. Remember, there’s no additional fee to shoot in the Buffalo Shoot.

S.A. Pondwater had a gigantic day. He placed first in rank order in all 5 stages. That means that his total rank score from which overall rankings are derived was 5. You can’t do better than that. And he shot having no misses. Of course with a performance like that, S.A. Pondwater was the TOP GUN. Anita Margarita was the Top Cowgirl Shooter in a field of 12 cowgirls. The Top 10 Shooters were (1) S.A. Pondwater (2) Papa Dave (3) Dirt Merchant (4) Anita Margarita (5) Marshal Too Tall (6) Tabasco JOT (7) Festus D. Deputy (8) Unpleasant (9) Marshal WD (10) Purly. 27 shooters shot matches with “No Misses”.
