Happy New Year Celebrated By 83 Shooters!
January, assuming the weather isn’t nasty, is usually 1 of our biggest shoots of the year, and 2012 continued the tradition. 83 shooters participated in the match, some who had been absent for a long time. (i.e. Curly Bill & Dustin Clays). Sheriff Donald and Deadeye Daisy also visited, but didn’t shoot. Sheriff Donald has been in poor health for a long time, but like the trooper he is, he sparkled on the range. Like always, he had a smile and friendly word for everyone who came by to say howdy. He’s always a class act, whether decked out as a cowboy or in real world clothes. It was good to see him and his shooting partner, Daisy.
As usual, Unpleasant was the TOP GUN, shooting the match with no misses. He shot the match in only 108.21 seconds. That means he shot the entire match in 1.8 minutes. Hurricane Charly placed 2nd. He tied with Marshal Too Tall in the base score but edged him out in the tie breaker, total shooting time. Charly shot his match in 129.96 seconds: that’s 2.1 minutes. That ain’t bad shooting, but there’s another way of looking at it. Mesquite Millie, who calculates the scores, put it this way. “The people who take the most time don’t waste their day. Look how long it takes to get there. If they get done in 2 minutes, that’s a lot of driving for a little shooting. If Deadman was as fast as Unpleasant, it wouldn’t be worth the drive.”
The TOP Lady Shooter was Last Kiss.
