Pistols, Posses and Perspiration – It Was Hot!

The July Shoot was a dandy. 72 shooters ventured out to experience the pleasure of pistols and possibilities. Several new shooters joined us for their 1st Cowboy & Cowgirl Shoot, and speaking of cowgirls, 11 lady shooters participated in the festivities. A couple of the cowgirls also provided a little entertainment, dancing an impromptu 2-step. Of course they had a little help. Each ejected a cartridge from their rifles, and the hot brass popped up in the air and then down their blouse. As Roma Jane told Mesquite Millie, it burned everywhere it touched. Last Kiss didn’t editorialize: she just had Fast Harley, her other half, reach up her back and extract the offending cartridge. Other cowgirls had memorable days too. Slim shot her 1st Cowgirl shoot in true John Wayne fashion, using a big loop lever rifle. Anita Margarita, after having challenged folks to shoot in the Big Gun category placed 1st among such shooters. Amorous Ali, looking splendid in her feathered hat, was the top Lady 49er shooter. Cotton Ginnie didn’t win her shooting category, but she wore a Tennessee Orange bandana and  provided a patriotic symbol for all shooters.
