Easter Bunny Is Top Gun At Ocoee Rangers April Shoot!
This headline may sound a bit far-fetched, but it’s true. Unpleasant showed up wearing a pink cow-bunny hat and bunny ears, and the costume obviously helped his shooting because he was the TOP GUN of the event. When the “Bunny” was introduced in the meeting just before the shoot, a certain shooter sometimes known as “the Tiger” said something like, “I wonder about the gender of that shooter.” The “Bunny” replied with a chuckle, “How’d you like to see a bunny kick a tiger’s butt?”
Each match should be a learning experience, and the April Match was just such an event for Hurricane Charly. He was sporting a coralish colored shirt and was concerned that maybe some folks would think it was pink. A cowboy who heard his concern quickly told him that he was mistaken: his shirt was John Wayne red, sorta fadedish. He was immediately relieved. Who’d question anything John Wayne wore?

Easter Eve was a great day for a shoot. It wasn’t hot, the sun enhanced the various shades of green of the trees and grass, 87 shooters participated in the event, and we had several new shooters who joined us in our game of gun-smoke and imagination. We also had a traditional hunt: while kids all across the country searched for Easter eggs in their hunts, we searched for brass flung from rifles on the firing line and found lots of it.
The Top 10 Shooters were (1) Unpleasant (2) Marshal Too Tall (3) Jackalope (4) Polecat Carl (5) T-Bone Angus (6) Clancy O’Conall (7) Pleasant (8) Tabasco JOT (9) Fast Harley and (10) Rusty Spur Slim. The Top Cowgirl Shooter was Anita Margarita. 14 shooters shot matches with no misses: Unpleasant, Marshal Too Tall, Polecat Carl, T-Bone Angus, D.Q. Jones, Sudden Sam, Hide Cutter, Bad Eye Tom, Deadman, Rev. Adam Jones, Tennessee Hawk, Tellico, Shenandoah Will and Lucky Lightburne.
