I Had A Dream … I Shot A Match With No Misses!
Have you ever dreamed about a Cowboy Action Shooting match? From the photo below, maybe Sudden Sam had such a dream. He’s telling Happ Hazard something, and Happ has a look that says, “You don’t say.” In any event, Sudden Sam didn’t miss any targets at the September shoot. That was true of 26 of the 79 cowboys and cowgirls who shot the match.
The day began when the Buffalo Shooters broke out their smoke poles and shot the long range events. After that experience, they may have gasped for breath when they later saw targets a mere 3.5 yards from the firing line. Jackson Longstreet placed 1st in Single Shot Rifle competition. Marshal Too Tall captured all the other titles winning the Lever Action Rifle (pistol cal.), Long Range Pistol and .22 Cal. competitions. Some folks may have thought that Marshal Too Tall, based on the smile on his face, was a bit arrogant about winning most of the marbles in that event, but that’s not necessarily so. Too Tall usually has a smile on his face, except when he’s shooting. Then he has a look of pure concentration. No, Purly, I didn’t say constipation.
Mrs. Pleasant’s little boy, Unpleasant, was the TOP GUN of the day, followed closely by Clancy O’Conall in 2nd place. The Top 10 Shooters were rounded out by: (3) Widowmaker (4) Polecat Carl (5) Slater (6) Ocoee Red (7) Purly (8) Marshal Too Tall (9) Judge’m All Duncan and (10) Marshal W.D.
The Top Cowgirl Shooter in a field of 10 cowgirl shooters, was Last Kiss, who shot as a Gunfighter. 2 cowgirl shooters shot No-Misses Matches: Roma Jane and Mrs. Pleasant.
Say A Prayer For Sheriff Donald
If you’re a praying cowgirl or cowboy, remember Sheriff Donald and Deadeye Daisy, his other half, in your prayers. At the shoot, we learned that Sheriff Donald has a very serious medical condition. That’s why he and Daisy have not been with us for quite a while.
