Posted by Deadman in NewsletterHey Duke Was Back & Little Purly Shot With No Misses
Shoot day was sunny and green. So, Sudden Sam came decked out in green … Sorta like a leprechaun in a 10 gallon hat. But, he shot very well.
Hey Duke visits us each year, and it was good to have him back. T-Bone Angus had a grin on his face, a Derby on his head, and good news: he’s going to become a 1st time grandpa. And Little Purly, Purly’s grand-daughter, shot Buckaroo – Pistols Only, and she shot with no misses.
Judge’m All Duncan was on the range at the shoot, accompanying his better half, Yazoo City Gal. He’s been a pretty sick cowboy for some time. He’s not up to shooting yet, but it was good to have him with us.
76 shooters participated in the match, 25 of whom shot with no misses. Unpleasant was the TOP GUN, and Anita Margarita was the Top Lady Shooter. The Top 10 Shooters were: (1) Unpleasant (2) Cumberland Drifter (3) Clancy O’Conall (4) Hurricane Charly (5) Purly (6) Widowmaker (7) Marshal Too Tall (8) Double Nickle (9) Pleasant and (10) Polecat Carl.
5 shooters added a little spice, make that smoke, to their shooting and shot Frontiersman. For Too Tall, that means they shot cap & ball pistols. Who were these hardy cow-fellers? Long Gulch, Kid Ziggy, Fast Harley, Jackalope, and Loose Cinch.
In the Buffalo Shoot, before the main match, Pleasant won the .22 cal. competition, Yankee Dutchman won the Single Shot Rifle shoot, and Marshal Too Tall won the Lever Action Rifle and Long Range Pistol competitions.
Timer Operators are the Safety Officers of Record, when they have that little blue box cradeled in their hands. They are also, sometimes, the shooter’s guardian angel, giving advice like, “Shoot the target on the right”. Look at this photo of Too Tall and Jackalope. Too Tall has the shotgun. Notice that he’s leaning back a little, listening to Jackalope? Jackalope may be saying, “Do you want a re-shoot now, before you waste a few rounds, or do you want to make some noise before you ask for a re-shoot?” …. Of couse he could be asking Too Tall, “Are you sure your pistols are loaded?” If that’s the question, the look on Too Tall’s face seems to say, “I don’t know. Are they?”
