YORK FAMILY SHOOTERS SET AN OCOEE RANGER RECORD

L-R: Mrs. Pleasant, Pleasant & Unpleasant
Cowboy Action Shooting is about shooting good and looking good. Both elements make up the sport. And shooters at the August Ocoee Rangers Shoot were a colorful lot. And we were lucky to have a number of visitors to shoot with us for the 1st time. Hopefully each was made to feel welcome, part of the gang, and left wanting to come back and shoot with us. 81 shooters shot with us. That was a very good group, but not a record. We did have 1 record at the Shoot. It was the first time that a husband, wife and off-spring all shot clean matches, and they placed 1st in each of their shooting categories: Mrs. Pleasant, Pleasant & Unpleasant. Unpleasant was also the TOP GUN of the day. Someone said that Marshal Too Tall was thinking about changing his alias to Pleasantly Too Tall, but maybe that’s just a rumor.
Ranger Ben shot his 1st match as an Ocoee Ranger, unlimbering his .38 Lightnings as a Buckroo Shooter. When this word scratcher told him that there was no other Buckaroo for him to compete against, he said, “Well, I’ll just have to compete with another small shooter. How about Too Tall?” That would be tall shooting: Marshal Too Tall placed 4th overall &1st as a 49er. Too Tall also placed 1st in .22 caliber competition in the Buffalo Shoot, the 1st shooting of the day. Sundance McNeyman was the 1st place Long Range Pistol Shooter. And Outrider was 1st in Long Ranger Single Shot Rifle and Long Range Lever Action Rifle (pistol caliber) competition.

Ranger Ben Shoots His 1st Ocoee Ranger Match, Coached by His Paw, Double Barrel, & Timed by Pleasant.
Last Kiss was the Top Cowgirl Shooter, shooting in the Gunfighter class. The Top 10 Shooters were: (1) Unpleasant (2) Pleasant (3) Papa Dave (4) Marshal Too Tall (5) Polecat Carl (6) T-Bone Angus (7) Tombstone Peacekeeper (8) Festus D. Deputy (9) Kid Ziggy and (10) TN Tombstone. Tombstone missed only 1 shot and placed 10th in a field of 81 shooters, shooting as an Outlaw. Out-law shooters point shoot from waist level, with a bend in their elbow, no sighting. They also shoot their shotgun from waist level. Tombstone’s accomplishment deserves a well recognized “atta boy”. Congratulations, cowboy!
20 Shooters shot matches with no misses: Mrs. Pleasant, Pleasant, Unpleasant, Lulu Ann, Papa Dave, Polecat Carl, T-Bone Angus, Festus D. Deputy, Kid Ziggy, Sheriff Lord, TN Mongo, D.Q. Jones, Dustin Clays, Wildcat Wilkey, Delta Desperado, Sheriff Donald, Rev. Adam Jones, Double Barrel, Raw Flint & the illustrious Owlhoot Hardin. 7 of the Top 10 Shooters had no misses and the other 3 missed only 1 shot each.
