Ocoee Rangers Christmas Shoot & Annual Event!

What do you get when you combine cowboy & cowgirl shooters, the Christmas Season, gun smoke, vittles and Cleveland’s Golden Corral Restaurant? The Ocoee Rangers Annual After Christmas Shoot & Event.

After the shooting was done and all the range targets put away, we mounted up and moseyed over to  the Golden Corral in Cleveland, TN, had lunch together and celebrated 2009 and our collective and individual accomplishments.  We started with the grub: all Western movies have cowboys having grub. Then after the grub was devoured and the dishes cleared away, Ocoee Red started the shin-dig by presenting the 2009 Ocoee Rangers Annual “Spirit Of The Game Award” to Festus D. Deputy. Festus keeps our forum percolating, posts shooting scores on the forum, serves as the backup cowboy in calculation of monthly shooting results, and generally serves as a positive ambassador for Cowboy Action Shooting in the various matches in which he shoots.

Festus D. Deputy Receives 2009 "Spirit of the Game Award" from Ocoee Red

Not in any particular order, Ocoee Red also presented other awards.  In 2009 Buffalo Shooting competition, Sundance McNeyman was the No. 1 Long Range Pistol Shooter. Marshall Too Tall placed 1st in all the other Buffalo Shoot categories: Long Range Single Shot Rifle, Long Range Lever Action Rifle and .22 Caliber. Awards were then presented to the 2009 “5 Most Accurate Shooters”: (1) D.Q. Jones (2) Deadman (3) Festus D. Deputy (4) Owlhoot Hardin and (5) Pleasant. Not all were present to receive their awards in this and in shooting category awards.

To qualify to compete for Annual Awards, a cowboy or cowgirl must shoot in at least 5 Ocoee Ranger monthly matches during the year from January – November.  Shooting info is complied for each monthly match, points awarded, and then winners are recognized at the Annual Event. The more matches a shooter shoots, the better chance he or she has in winning an Annual Award. Awards are presented for the Buffalo Shoot, Accuracy, Shooting Categories, Top Cowgirl Shooter and THE TOP GUN for the year, the best shooter amongst us.
