Ocoee Rangers Newsletter – November 2016 Issue 14 Vol. 11
Posted by Deadman in NewsletterFalling Leaves & Targets
November. …… It was a great shoot. T-Bone did great writing the stages, and Horseshoe John and the set-up gang did a great job putting the match target layout together. There was something for all shooters. There were big close targets, for folks who like’m, and some a bit farther away, and knockdown targets for rifles and pistols and shotguns. And there was a flying bird and a big pumpkin pie being tossed across the range to shoot. And there was movement and action. And there was still color in the trees. Leaves were falling. Knockdown targets were falling when hit, and you could hear the clink or clang of steel targets hit by lead bullets, depending on how big a bullet and how much powder the shooter uses.

Before the shoot, the Buffalo Shooters gathered to do their thing. And something different happened. Marshal Too Tall passed the baton. Unpleasant won the Long Range Rifle – Pistol Cal. and Long Range Pistol competitions. Jackson Longstreet won the .22 Cal. event, besting Too Tall by 1 point in a shoot-off. Longstreet also won the Long Range Rifle – Rifle Cal. event. But ole Too Tall is a scrapper. Bet he’ll win something next time. Until then, read’em and weep Too Tall.
How’d the other action go? Clancy O’Conall was the TOP GUN, and Dodge City Dixie was the Top Lady Shooter. The Top 10 shooters were(1) Clancy O’Conall (2) Double Nickle (3) Randy Saint Eagle (4) Marshal W.D. (5) Purly (6) Widowmaker (7) Barkeep Casey (8) Papa Dave (9) Dodge City Dixie (10) Hurricane Charly.
Any other news? Yep. Ocoee Red was sportin’ a new hat … with a pencil roll brim … that will catch brass. And Jackalope has a new name. Well, sorta. He used to officially be Jackalope Jasper, and now officially he’s just Jackalope. Shucks, to us he was always Jackalope. Too Tall’s probably saying, “Wow. Jackalope is Jackalope. How ’bout that?”
December Shoot !!!!
Our December Shoot won’t be on the 4th Saturday! That’s Christmas Eve. Santa and us folks have to prepare Christmas sparkle for youngsters of all ages as we celebrate Christmas and the Holiday Season. So, we’ll shoot on December 31st, and bid farewell to 2016, and give an early welcome to 2017. After the shoot and the storing of targets, we’ll gather at the range club house for a provided lunch and to present Ocoee Rangers 2016 Annual Awards. Shucks, you might get one. So, be sure to attend the December Shoot on December 31, and plan to stay for the lunch and the presentation of 2016 Awards after the shoot.
