Cowboy Action Shooting Requires Concentration!

Cowboy Action Shooting requires lots of stuff: hats, boots, suspenders, spurs, gunleather, pistols, a rifle, a shotgun, an imagination, a sense of humor, concentration and a certain amount of spryness. Just look at Keystone concentrating on his shotgun target.  He still has 5 rifle rounds on his hat, and he’s really scrunched down, staring down the barrel of his double barrel street sweeper ready to blast his targets.  Lightning McCoy, on the other hand, is holding the timer and wondering, “How does he get in that position and then straighten up after he shoots?” Maybe Keystone’s a member of the scrunch & shoot gang.  Hurricane Charley is another shooter who enters that zone of concentration when he shoots. But they both shoot very well. Of course Keystone is a bit older than Charley and may screech a bit when he straightens up.

Lightning McCoy Mans The Timer & Looks On In Amazement As Keystone Scrunches Down To Shoot His Shotgun Targets

Shoot day was a very good day.  If you were 1 of the 83 shooters who were there, you know it. If you weren’t there, you missed a good shoot.  The weather was great, and if you like close targets, it would have been your day. Some of them were out that a whopping 3 1/2 yards. It was sorta like that old bell telephone commercial: “Reach out and touch someone.”  The Top 10 Shooters were (1) Unpleasant (2) Hurricane Charly (3) Cumberland Drifter (4) Marshal WD (5) Jackalope (6) Tabasco JOT (7) Outcast (8) Ocoee Red (9) Clancy O’Conall and (10) Polecat Carl.

Unpleasant was the TOP GUN, and Anita Margarita was The Top Lady Shooter. 29 shooters shot Matches With No Misses, including  Pleasant, his little boy Unpleasant, and his better half, Mrs. Pleasant. Owlhoot Hardin was back after a lengthy time off for health related reasons. But he came back with a bang, shooting Elder Statesman Duelist, and shooting with No Misses. Dusty Dollar also left with a smile on his face: he shot with No Misses. And what about Badlands Beck, he only had 1 miss and he was shooting Outlaw & shot from the waist,  just pointing his pistols and shotgun at the targets. Loose Cinch was just behind him with 2 misses.
