Posted by Deadman in NewsletterSlater Was Top Gun, Rhinestone Rachel Shot A No-Misses Match, And Dead Weight Shot His 1st Cowboy Action Shoot!
Match day at the Ocoee Rangers range was elegant. Where were you? The weather was perfect: not hot and not cold. It was sunny, and the fall tint to the light accented the woods and greenery on the ranges. We expected such a day would see 80 shooters out playing the game, but only 61 participated. So what, it was a great day. Lucky Lightburne’s son, Dead Weight shot his 1st Cowboy Action Shoot. Slater was the Top Gun. Anita Margarita was the Top Lady Shooter. Rhinestone Rachel shot a No-Misses Match, and Double Eagle’s pony tail was still swishing as he navigated the stages.
We hear lots of stuff about going green, saving water, looking out for brother & sister bugs and stuff. Well, 1 bug must have heard about all that. On stage 2, Lucky Lightburne laid his rifle down on the loading table as he waited his turn to shoot. While it was there, a shiny, green katydid flew onto the table, landed on the trigger & lever of Lucky’s ’73 Winchester, and perched there. Bugs have rights too. Then it was time for Lucky to shoot. Did the katydid stay on the rifle? The katydid didn’t. Lucky flicked it away, grabbed his rifle and scampered to the line to shoot. His conscience must not have bothered him for bopping the bug. He shot a clean stage and a clean match.
Wichita Colt demonstrated a talent at the shoot that might be used again in the future. Take a look at the picture of Cotton Ginnie shooting her trusty rifle. (No, Too Tall. I didn’t say rusty rifle.) What do you see? Well, Ginnie’s shooting. Double Eagle is proudly sporting his pony tail and pointing a trigger finger at something. And there’s gun-smoke in the air. That smoke really accentuates the photo doesn’t it. Well, just as the cameraman snapped the photo, Wichita Colt, who was leaning against a post, blew a cloud of cigar smoke. It made a nifty picture. Wichita may have to walk around with the cameraman sometimes. Huh?

Cotton Ginnie Concentrates on Her Target as Double Eagle Mans the Timer and Points His Finger at Something.
