April – Spring Surely Sprang

April Shooters L-R: El Carrera, Marshal Too Tall, T-Bone Angus & Dustin Clays. Classy Cowboys In A Classy Game.
What do you know about April? It’s the 1st month in the year to have 30 days. Yep. Easter sometimes falls in the month. OK. It’s the month Spring begins. Yep. And it’s Arab American Heritage Month. I kid you not. It’s also the 4th official Ocoee Rangers Shoot in 2017, and 60 shooters participated in the event. Nope. There were no April showers, although they were forecasted. About 14 light drizzle-drops fell, but neither Too Tall nor Double Eagle were intimidated by that.
What does an April Shoot on the Ocoee Rangers’ home Range look like? Well, the best way to answer that question is to just take a look at a few captured moments That are shown in this edition of the newsletter.
Yankee Dutchman and Marshal Too Tall split the Buffalo Shoot events. Too Tall won the .22 Cal. Rifle & Long Range Rifle – Pistol Cal. competitions. Yankee Dutchman grabbed the.22 Cal. Pistol and the Long Range Rifle – Rifle Cal. competitions.
Hurricane Charly was the TOP GUN, and Dodge City Dixie was, once again, the Top Lady Shooter. The Top 10 Shooters were (1) Hurricane Charly (2) Barkeep Casey (3) Clancy O’Conall (4) Purly (5) Widowmaker (6) Slater (7) Polecat Carl (8) Pleasant (9) Ocoee Red and (10) Marshal W.D. All are experienced in being Top 10 shooters.
2 Buckaroo shooters tangled with the targets: Teaspoon and Cowgirl Casey. Cowgirl Casey shot only pistols and her rifle, but in shooting at 120 targets on 6 stages, she missed only 1 shot. Good Shooting Cowgirl! Bird’s Eye, a Young Gun, also sent lots of lead down range.
Miss Kitty Kat shot Lady Gunfighter for the 1st time and struggled a bit. Shucks, shooting with a pistol in each hand is tough. Try it, and you’ll see. But Miss Kitty Kat’s a nifty cowgirl, and she’ll soon be right in there with the top Lady Gunfighters. Who do you think keeps Mongo shooting his best? Nope, it ain’t Too Tall. It’s Miss Kitty Kat.
T-Bone did a good job with the 6 scenarios that he presented. They were fun to shoot and showed a variety of target looks and styles. If you look at the results, 85% of the shooters missed 4 or fewer targets. That ain’t bad shooting. In the Old West, the home place or wagon train would have been well defended.
