Close & Fast
If you like really big targets really close, then you loved the August shoot. The pistol targets on all 5 stages were tombstones at 10 feet (3 1/2 yards). Shooters shot fast and hit the targets. 45% of 84 shooters shot with no misses, and 71% had 1 or fewer misses. There wasn’t much variety, but the stages were fast. The top 25 shooters (30% of overall shooters) shot the entire match, all 5 stages, in less than 2 minutes. And 4 of the 6 Outlaw shooters (67%) shot with no misses.
Hurricane Charly was the TOP GUN, shooting the match in 79.54 seconds without a miss. The Top Lady Shooter was Dodge City Dixie. She placed 7th overall and shot the match in 95.62 seconds. The Top 10 shooters were: (1) Hurricane Charly (2) Double Nickle (3) Cumberland Drifter (4) Unpleasant (5) Papa Dave (6) Widowmaker (7) Dodge City Dixie (8) Yank MaChain (9) Ocoee Red (10) Dead Lee Shooter. Message To The Ocoee Rangers From Afghanistan
In May, the Ocoee Rangers, coordinated by Happy Pappy and LuLu McGoo, collected goodies, and cash to pay shipping, for U.S. troops deployed in Afghanistan. They sent the collections to the U.S. folks far from home in the land of deserts and chaos and intolerance. A few days before the August Shoot, Happy Pappy went to his door and received a package for the Ocoee Rangers. It contained a U.S. Flag, a certificate from Colonel Brian Reece and Staff Sergeant David Rasmussen of the 738 Air Expeditionary Advisory Group, Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan, and a hand written Thank You note from Col. Reece. The message on the certificate is shown below
This Flag Of The United States Of America Is Presented to Ocoee Rangers
This American Flag flew over Kandahar Province, Afghanistan on 19 May 2015, aboard an Mi-17 Aircraft, tail no. 734, mission No. 0441MJ171139, in support of Operation Resolute Support. The aircrew consisted of United States Air Force Advisors from the 441st Air Expeditionary Advisory Squadron. They proudly carried this flag that symbolizes the will and resolve of Coalition forces, standing strong to defeat all enemies attempting to harm the United States of America and its allies.
