92 Shooters – Record Attendance At Ocoee Rangers’ April Match!

We had record attendance at the April match, 92 shooters. That wasn’t a bad showing at all. The stages were fast and slick, and so was Too Tall, although Unpleasant finished as the TOP GUN.  Anita Margarita was the Top Lady Shooter, narrowly besting Last Kiss.  They tied in overall score, but in the tie breaker, Anita shot the match 1.2 seconds faster than Kiss.

The Top 10 Shooters were (1) Unpleasant (2) Hurricane Charley (3) Ocoee Red (4) Clancy O’Conall (5) Marshal Too Tall (6) Jackalope (7) Polecat Carl (8) Marshal W.D. (9) Barkeep Casey and (10) Pleasant.

11 shooters shot No Misses Matches: Rev Adam Jones, Sheriff Lord, Horseshoe John, the Bama Kid, Deadman, Marshal Too Tall, Hide Cutter, Unpleasant, Ocoee Red, the Citico Kid and Sundance McNeyman.

Lightning McCoy was sportin’ new six-guns, and they sure looked nifty. They started life as Best Western

Model 2s blued with ordinary white grips. Lightning took them to Vinegarroon and had him apply his artistic magic. They currently are nickel plated and fully engraved with white Tru-ivory grips. Out of the box, the pistols are perfectly timed and have smooth action jobs. So, old Lightning is mighty proud of his new toys. Here’s what he had to say. “I’d been talking about getting new guns, and my wife said that if I really wanted them, I’d better go ahead and get them while I’m still working. Once I retire, it would be out of the question.”

L-R Sitting: Mesquite Millie, Lightning McCoy, Rev. Adam Jones. Standing and Yarning, Tin Pot

We’re a shooting group, right? And there’s all kinds of shooting that goes on during our matches, right? This is a demonstration of that. While Last Kiss and Fast Harley’s posse is completing shooting stage 1, with shootin’ irons, Horseshoe John’s posse is waiting to shoot. So with guns holstered and racked in carts, they’re shooting the breeze. In the background, Widowmaker and the Bama Kid are at the unloading table. In the foreground, Mesquite Millie and Lightning McCoy (see his new pistol in his holster) are listening to that fast talking devil, Tin Pot, while the Rev. Adam Jones is looking away in disbelief. If you look at the expressions on Millie’s and Lightning’s faces, their reactions to Tin Pot’s tale are a bit different: Millie’s seems to say, “Wow. That’s really something.” Lightning’s seems to say, helped by his hands, “I believe that about as much as I believe I could choke an elephant to death with my bare hands.”

If you’ve never visited one of our shoots, please come and visit with us.  We’ll do our best to make your visit safe and fun and make you feel welcome and want to come back.
