Volume 7, Issue No. 7                                                         July 2009

  REVELATIONS ON THE RANGE

This lead-in sounds like the title of a romance novel, but, it’s not.  Nope. Several Cowboy Action Shooting “revelations” were revealed at the July Shoot. No. 1 was that former Top Cowgirl Shooter Last Kiss better not tangle with died-in-the–woods black powder shooter Owlhoot Hardin:  he bested her shooting Frontier Cartridge Duelist. And before all that black powder smoke cleared away, Yazoo City Gal surged to the front and captured the Top Cowgirl Shooter position for the July Shoot. No. 2, Marshal Too Tall, or “the Tiger” as he refers to himself now, is not a midget. How was this revealed? Well, little cowboy Ben Childers was asked how old he is, and he smiled and said, “30”. Then he said, “I guess if I was really 30, I’d be a midget, wouldn’t I.  Is Too Tall a midget?” Cowboys being cowboys, this word-scratcher beat a path to Marshal Too Tall and posed the question to him, “Are you?” Too Tall laughed, thought about shooting the feller who asked the question (remember Billy the Kid, like Too Tall, was fast shooting in a small package), and said, “I guess he won’t be 1 of my tigers, if that’s what he thinks. But Too Tall, the tiny tiger, is not a feller to hold a grudge: he’s too busy getting ready to compete with Festus D. Deputy in the next coming match.
