July Shoot – And Info About September  Annual Lead Mine Shootout

Clancy O'Conall Blasting Targets With His Trusty Rifle

Clancy O’Conall Blasting Targets With His Shotgun

Attendance was down a bit from last year’s July Shoot: 61 then compared to 48 this year. Maybe it was the heat. In the 90’s. Of course all the smokin’ guns heated up the range a bit more.  When the smoke cleared and the last target was blasted, Hurricane Charly was the TOP GUN, and Anita Margarita was the Top Lady Shooter. The Top 10 Shooters were (1) Hurricane Charly (2) Marshal W.D. (3) Clancy O’Connal (4) Widowmaker (5) Black Jack Lee (6) Polecat Carl (7) Slater (8) Happy Pappy (9) Pleasant and (10) Outcast.

This was the 1st Ocoee Rangers shoot in which the new SASS Total Time Scoring System was used. In the ongoing competition between Ocoee Red and Marshal Too Tall, in the Silver Sr. category, Too Tall edged out Ocoee Red by just a smidgen over 6 seconds.  Oops!

In the pre-match Buffalo Shoot, Pleasant won the Long Range Rifle – Pistol Cal. event, apparently after a shoot-off with Too Tall to break a tie. Pleasant also won the .22 Cal. Rifle Shoot. Jackson Longstreet won the .22 Cal. Revolver event.

There was no winner in the Long Range Rifle – Rifle Cal. competition.  Too Tall had this to say: “… I decided that it would not be a good idea to end this shoot in a tie. …”  He and Yankee Dutchman are conferring on a tie-breaking technique.  Here’s a suggestion.  Use the “quarter technique”. Here’s how it could work. There’s a tie.  At the end of the Buffalo Shoot, Too Tall finds T-Bone up at the sign-in area and gives T-Bone a quarter. T-Bone flips the quarter to determine the winner and then pockets the quarter. How ’bout that? It would work fairly, and when used would make T-Bone 25 cents richer. What do you think?
